| This duplex is in a mansion originally built for Henri IV in 1595, but no way does it show its age in terms of convenience. Actually, the modern furnishings are a pleasing contrast to the older architectural features. The only water source in this duplex is downstairs, that means a glass of water and midnight bathroom runs are maneuvered via the tricky spiral staircase. If you are disabled, older or like to drink extra vino during dinner, please don't consider this apartment because the spiral staircase needs an alert and agile mind. The apartment is on ground floor of a courtyard building with the kitchen and bathroom downstairs in the cellar. If you are remotely claustrophic, suffer from severe allergies or environmentally sensitive, please don't consider this option. No there isn't anything wrong but it's vaulted cellar dating back to 1595! For everyone else, bay windows in the living room face a tree lined private courtyard and an iron spiral staircase leads to a splendid vaulted cellar that houses the kitchen and dining room. This apartment is truly ideal for two, don't try to cramp 4 into this place because it will diminish the splendor. In the heart of chic Saint Germain des Prés, you are near plenty of trendy hotspots without being near the noise. |
